Common Questions About Swapping BTC to ETH

Can I send BTC directly from a crypto exchange?

Yes. The exchange must support BTC withdrawals on Bitcoin. Select Bitcoin as the withdrawal network and send the funds to the deposit address generated for the swap.

What happens after I send BTC to the deposit address?

The swap waits for the required Bitcoin confirmations before it continues. Standard BTC routes need 2 confirmations; Boost can reduce that to 1 when available.

What receiving address should I enter for ETH?

Enter an address that supports ETH on Ethereum. This is where the ETH from the swap will be sent.

Do I need a Bitcoin refund address?

Yes. Enter a Bitcoin address you control so funds can be returned if the swap is eligible for a refund.

How do I know when the swap is complete?

The swap status will show when the exchange is complete. Once the destination asset has been sent, you can also view the transaction directly on the destination blockchain explorer.

Guide Outline

Expand a step to learn more.

BTC is selected

The swap starts with BTC on Bitcoin. The asset and network you send must match the route exactly.

ETH is selected

You receive ETH on Ethereum. Use a wallet that supports ETH on Ethereum.

Enter the BTC amount

Enter the amount you want to exchange and review how the quote, estimated receive amount, and minimum swap threshold respond.

Review the BTC to ETH quote

Check the quoted receive amount, estimated completion time, fees, and minimum receive before continuing.

Add receiving and refund addresses

Enter the address where the completed swap should arrive. Provide a refund address on the send network when the route requires one for eligible returns.

Create the swap and get deposit instructions

Once the quote and wallet details look right, confirm the swap to generate the deposit address and final instructions.

Complete the final checks

Review the send network, receive network, both addresses, and the minimum receive amount before sending funds.

Send BTC to the deposit address

In a real swap, BTC is sent to the generated deposit address on the Bitcoin network. This guide simulates the deposit step and does not move funds.

Wait for confirmation and execution

After the deposit is recognized, the swap moves through confirmation and execution until ETH is delivered. This guide simulates these status updates.

Receive ETH

When the swap completes, ETH reaches your receive address. This guide shows the same completion stage without sending real funds.
